“It’s 3 a.m., and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?” the cartoon ad asks as a red phone rings in the Clinton White House. Of course, it’s answered by former President Bill Clinton who hands the phone to Hillary saying “It’s for you.” “From now on, it’s always for me,” Hillary responds. But the cartoon has the most fun when Trump takes the call. When the red phone rings, Trump is too busy tweeting and getting his orange spray tan to bother with the crisis. “Put my name on the Lincoln Memorial, make Chris Christie eat a worm just for laughs, disband NATO and make me some scrambled eggs on a gold plate,” he says as instead of tending to the emergency. The ad ends with the tagline: “Paid for by Americans Who Are Really Starting to Miss Obama.”
Perhaps the biggest revelation in the cartoon is not that Trump is totally unprepared to appropriately respond to a national emergency, but that Homer J. Simpson is a Trump supporter. But that’s until Marge refuses to sleep with him if he votes for Trump. And, ever the slave to his own appetites, Homer happily switches parties. So now it’s 3 a.m. in Springfield and all is well—until Bart wakes up.
